March Photo Recap

Well, another month has gone by and I still feel like I haven't taken many good photos. I carry my camera in my purse everywhere I go, but can never seem to remember to get it out and use it! *sigh* In any case, here is my photo recap for March...

Art Love: Conrad Roset

I'm loving the work of Conrad Roset. He is a 27-year-old illustrator living in Barcelona. I love the combination of his delicate pencil drawings with explosions of drippy rainbow watercolors. Beautiful!

My unofficial Scout Badges just got cuter! I've added two more collections, (along with my camp collection): a nature walk theme and a horse lover theme. Each Scout Badge collection now comes with a fun hand-sewn felt brooch! Perfect for displaying one or two of your favorite badges. Mix and match and collect all three sets!

Check out their fun packaging too!

April Ad Trade?

I meant to post about this last week... My blog is growing slowly and I'm so happy to have had so many new visitors over the last month. I've loved receiving all of your comments!

I wondered if anyone would be interested in doing a little ad trade for the month of April? If you are a fellow free spirit and share the same love for handmade, fashion, vintage, art, crafts, etc- then lets support each other! If you're interested, leave me a comment or email me at: campsmartypants@yahoo.com

Ad sizes should be 160px wide. Email me your button + link. You can find my buttons on my Badges page. Just copy and past the link provided.

Need help creating an ad? No problem! I happen to be a graphic designer too and would love to help! Ad designs are $10 (or I also love to trade). You can use your ad button on your own blog or wherever else you'd like to show it off. Email me for more details!

Jill Bliss ♥

Two years ago, when I first moved home to Portland after living in Seattle for 5 years, I took a drawing class from one of my favorite local artists, Jill Bliss. The class consisted of me, and 5 or 6 other girls meeting Jill in a park or coffee shop in SE Portland and drawing. She took us through a variety of different drawing exercises. Our subject always came from nature. A leaf, flower, plant, tree. After attending design school and working as a graphic designer in Seattle, it had been a long time since I had taken the time to sit down and draw. I had forgotten how calming and therapeutic it can be, especially when drawing nature.

A few weeks ago, Jill sent me an email saying that she had just finished her first book called, Nature Drawing: A Journal, based on the summer drawing class I took 2 years ago. As a thank you she sent a free copy of the book to all her original drawing students!

I thought it'd be fun to share with you some snippets from the book and also a few photos of the drawings I created while attending her class.

Receiving this book has made me want to go to a park and draw again. Perhaps once the weather is nice I'll start up a little drawing club :)
