I wish I had a chance to post about this sooner, but thought it being Christmas day and all, it still wasn't too late to share these little Christmas Fairy ornaments I made for gifts this year. They were originally inspired by this post I found via Pinterest. Their bodies are made from hand-painted old-fashioned clothespins, their dresses are yarn pom poms and I added wings made of felt and glitter. They turned out so darling and made a sweet addition to Christmas trees everywhere.
I didn't do hardly any Christmas shopping this year and opted to make things for friends and family instead. In addition to the fairy ornaments I made some tiki-themed homemade goodies for people to enjoy. I even ordered some pretty labels from my work to package them up in.
Hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing Christmas! Peace, Rachel

Vintage Christmas Trees
I've loved collecting vintage photos of Christmas trees this year. They seem so much more elaborate than our modern day Christmas trees (so much tinsel and trains!)
Something about seeing these vintage black and white photos really just draws me in. I can only imagine what these were like in real life!

November Instagram
I still can't believe it's December! I've been so busy this past month with work, prepping for the holidays, and lots of other fun projects. I wanted to share a few Instagram photos I took from November.
I did some fall baking with my mom! You can find this recipe here.
Two of my favorite things- crafts and nails with my friend Zerrin! We are making shrines out of kleenex boxes, pasta and glitter. Can't wait until these are all finished!
Lots of late night drawing. See this finished drawing here.
More crafting for the My Own Ideas blog. These mini snow globes turned out SO cute! Check out my tutorial here.
I traded for a beautiful crochet lampshade from Atmosphere on Etsy!
James and I hosted a pre-Thanksgiving party and had fun showing off our little tiki bar.
And our friends from A Wooden Nest hosted a post-Thanksgiving party complete with Karaoke. Here is James singing his heart out.
In between all that fun I printed and cut SO many cards for Screaming Sky Gallery and other stores around Portland.
How has your winter been so far?

In the midst of preparing for the Crafty Wonderland Holiday Sale, I've managed to finish two new drawings. I've been enjoying working with colored pencil and may need to treat myself to a new set of Prismacolors soon ;)

Dia De Los Muertos
I recently discovered Family Band and had to share this video today in honor of the Day of the Dead. Enjoy!
The group is by artists Kim Krans and Jonny Ollsin. They are also the makers behind The Wild Unkown. I just love Kim's illustration style. Especially her deck of Tarot cards. If anyone is wondering what to get me for Christmas, I would LOVE to have this :)

My Trip To Virginia
Last weekend I took a trip to Norfolk, Virginia to visit my sister. She moved there from Portland earlier this year to work at the Navy hospital there. This was the first time I've seen her since February! My mom was already there (she traveled there a week earlier). We had a lot of fun and I thought I'd share some of the Instagram photos I took while I was there.
First off, we found a $5 store (I didnt even know those existed) and I loaded up on Lisa Frank Halloween stuff! We had lots of fun playing with all the pencils, eyeball erasers, and stickers.
And we took a walk through Teresa's neighborhood (before the Hurricane Sandy hit). We saw lots of spooky haunted houses...
We also stumbled upon a bird and wildlife preserve! I even found a few flowers still hanging on before winter.
Did I mention how much Teresa and I love Lisa Frank?
And lastly, on the night when we got hit the worst by the hurricane, we stayed home, watched movies and carved up some pumpkins.
This is what it looked like outside her front door on Monday morning (the day my mom and I were supposed to head home but our flight was cancelled).
Luckily, we made it home safe and sound the next day (Tuesday). Our flight was the second plane to leave the airport that day. What an adventure!

These flowers are called White Wood Astors.
And these are Beauty Berries (love that name!)
