Another Thrift Store Find

I absolutely fell in love with this quilt when I saw it at Rerun, in NE Portland. Someone must have made this for a child's bed. I love the embroidered details.

Peter Pan

Last weekend, while I was in Portland, my mom and I (of course) did a little bit of junking and I found this Golden Books addition of Peter Pan from 1978. I love Disney's old illustrations.

Tie Dye!

So this weekend I spent some time doing some late night tie-dying in the laundry room of my apartment building. Here are my successful results!

I bought the dyeing kit from Dharma Trading Co. about a month ago. Right now, I am just doing some experimenting with different techniques and test fabrics. But-- it will soon turn into an awesome bag with some extra flair. These tie-dying experiments are just the beginning! I hope to soon announce the opening of the Camp Smartypants Store, on Etsy by late spring. Because who wouldn't want to carry around a tie-dye bag this summer! Keep checking back as I will be posting regular updates on this project.

Drink Me

Another artist I discovered this week: Mia. I really love her dreamy, yet dark version of Alice in Wonderland.
Check out these amazing drawings by artist/illustrator Elizabeth Garvey. I am in love with her marker style- super detailed, innocent, super awesome.

One person's junk is another person's...

JUNK!! This is my most recent stash from the "free area" of my apartment: More magazines to cut up, some weird green picture frames, a new set of bowls (I do actually need these) and a pouch that I might make a pattern out of.

Dinah is diggin' it too!

I know it's a little late but..

I realized I never posted the photos I took over Xmas. It was a wonderfully quiet Christmas this year. I spent it with my Mom and her boyfriend. The snow was so pretty. We just relaxed, cooked, watched movies, and worked on puzzles.

Green Onions

I am so excited because today, my first issue of the "What Did You Buy Today?" arrived! I am absolutely in LOVE with Kate Bingaman-Burt's work. Included with the subscription, I also got to choose one of her original drawings. I chose these Green Onions she drew last november.

An Awesome Book

I just ran across this amazing artist and writer, Dallas Clayton. He's just published his first book called, "An Awesome Book," which I immediately pre-ordered. I am very inspired by the youthful whimsy of his work. You can view his book here.

Hello 2009

With 2009 off to a bit of a rocky start, I feel like I have finally recovered from the holidays. I am ready to start fresh and get motivated. I've never been one for New Year's Resolutions, but here are some of my goals for this year:
