I recently discovered Family Band and had to share this video today in honor of the Day of the Dead. Enjoy!
The group is by artists Kim Krans and Jonny Ollsin. They are also the makers behind The Wild Unkown. I just love Kim's illustration style. Especially her deck of Tarot cards. If anyone is wondering what to get me for Christmas, I would LOVE to have this :)

Return from the Faerie Realm
Well what a weekend the Faerieworlds festival turned out to be. We arrived Friday afternoon to Mount Pisgah, just outside of Eugene, Oregon. After setting up our tent and applying some faerie makeup (glitter, purple eye shadow and a bindi) we ventured into the festival to participate in the opening ceremonies. We watched a procession led by the most beautiful faery matron with long silver hair and then began the spiral dance (check out this video).
(source)
We drank sparkling mead and conversed with pirate wenches. We danced to the grooves of afro-celtic band, Baka Beyond.
We walked and shopped all the vendors selling faerie wares. My high school girl self was super excited to see Amy Brown (I was obsessed!) and all the other magical vendors.
I can't begin to describe the costumes people wore! And I'm horrible at taking photos (I prefer to enjoy things in the moment and though I always bring a camera, I most often completely forget to use it). We saw every kind of faery you can imagine! Tinkerbelles, gypsy fairies, sluttly punk fairies, steampunk fairies, goth fairies, Woodstock fairies.. even a Star Wars fairy! We saw pirates and mermaids, faery villains and superheroes.
But the best part of Faerieworlds was getting to see the King of the the Faeries himself! DONOVAN!
He played a magical set opening with Hurdy Gurdy Man, Mellow Yellow, Sunshine Superman, Season of the Witch and more! AND of course the night ended with the most magical Atlantis! It. Was. Amazing.
And then we got to meet him and have him sign THIS!
James captured this from Futurama's "The Deep South" episode (featuring Donovan) and had it printed poster size. We were completely star struck and he seemed pretty pleased to see his cartoon self again.
Thank you Faerieworlds for such a magical weekend (even if we did end up looking and smelling like true hippies).

First Aid Kit
I've been wanting some new music to listen to for summer and stumbled across the band, First Aid Kit. They are two sisters who sing their swedish folk hearts out. What really makes me girl-crush them is their amazing sister style! ♥ ♥

Artist of the Day: Sia
Sia is a musician from Australia. I bought her first album years ago, a purchase I'll admit I made solely because of her album art. I loved the image of her with a fist full of crayola markers, coloring her face. Luckily, her music was just as compelling as her imagery.

I'm excited again for her newest album! Look at this album art! Any girl that wears pipe cleaners in her hair is immediately cool in my book. I love seeing people spreading the crafty love in unique ways.

Her music videos are just as quirky crafty as she is...
Check out her website: www.siamusic.net
PS. I will be announcing a little giveaway later this afternoon, so be sure to check back!

Photos from Sasquatch!
Wow, what an amazing weekend! I had a blast at the festival, but am so happy to be home with a hot shower and a bed to sleep in. Here are some photos from the weekend fun...
I set up some of my tie-dye at our campsite in hopes of selling a few things.

Our camp neighbors.. (I really wanted to sit on their bus deck!)

Minus the Bear on the mainstage.

Me and Friends!

Gorge sunset!

Me in my hippie clothes ♥ Oh, and delicious tacos!

Massive Attack on the mainstage.

We got backstage for Quasi

I'm still amazed by the awesome view from the mainstage. All in all, it was an incredible weekend.

Sasquatch
I spent this Memorial Day weekend at the Gorge for my first Sasquatch Music Festival. I was overwhelmed and amazed by the experience. In just 2 days, I got to hang out in the hot sun and listen to amazing bands like Animal Collective, TV On The Radio, Hockey, St. Vincent, Of Montreal and Jane's Addiction. I have never been to a more beautiful venue. Here is a photo of the main stage.

SF + TacocaT = Fun fun fun!
So, on Thursday night we met up with our friends TacocaT at the Stud in the SOMA district. That night was a blur of fun.

Chelcie made these awesome vulva & penis patches for all the bands to wear that night!

Don't you pimp out my heart

I know I've blogged about the band, Of Montreal before- but I couldn't resist writing another post about their newest album, Skeletal Lamping, that came out last summer. I swear to god I've been listening to the entire album at LEAST once every day (for months!). And I've have listened to it dancing around my apartment MORE than twice. :-)
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you haven't checked out this album yet- DO IT! It will blow your mind.
How could anyone resist these guys?
