Halloween Cards & Prints Are Here!

Halloween is my all time favorite holiday so I couldn't resist coming up with some fun new halloween illustrations this year. Sending surprise mail to friends and family is something I like to do, especially around holidays and these cards are perfect for sending along with your favorite candy or halloween stickers or toys.

1. Sugar Skull Card  2. Trick or Treat Card  3. Fortune Teller Witch Card
All three designs are also available as 8x10 prints. Perfect for displaying at your annual Halloween party.

Inspiration: Suppose You Met A Witch

I've been oggling these illustrations from the book Suppose You Met A Witch illustrated by Ed Emberley published in 1973. The book is out of print now but I found these images on Oange's flickr. She describes the style as "Hippie Nouveau" and I just LOVE it.

Happy Autumn!

Today is the first day of Fall! While I've been sick as a dog all week I've been poking at this collection of autumn doodles and finally finished with this arrangement while sipping ginger ale and watching The Croods this afternoon. What are you up to this weekend?

Summer Quilt Project

My friend Michelle had her first baby in August and I took up the opportunity to make her a baby quilt. Her husband's favorite hobby is sailing so I thought this quilt design from Cornbread & Beans Quilting Co. would be perfect for their baby boy. I couldn't find a pattern, so all I had to go off of was the photo I found on Pinterest. Luckily, both my Mom and Gramma are experienced sewers so with their help I was able to create my own pattern based on the photograph.
I am notorious for starting new craft projects and never finishing them - especially when they are larger projects that take a while to complete. When I decided to make this quilt I told myself I had to finish it and made time every week to work on it.
My Gramma is not only an amazing quilter, she also is a fabric collector and has more fabric than most fabric stores. All the materials used to make this quilt I found digging through boxes in her sewing room.
This was a really fun project and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I hope that Michelle and her little one will enjoy it for years to come.

Labor Day Adventures

Hello September! I'm always sad to see summer come to an end but Portland is truly beautiful in the Fall and I'm already collecting new soup recipes for the cooler weather we have to come.

James and I spent labor day weekend swing dancing at Camp Hollywood in Los Angeles. We learned some new moves and had a lot of fun, but came home exhausted with sore feet and calves. Phew!
The camp took place at the Marriott hotel near LAX. After 4 hours of dance workshops each day, we dressed up for a night of more dancing and live music. We had so. much. fun!
