New Art and Cards!

I've been working on some new card designs and finally got them listed in my Etsy shop!

I also finished a new painting! This was the first time I tried using both watercolor and acrylic paint. I've felt really inspired by Mexican folk art lately and am really happy with how this sugar skull turned out. I have prints available in two sizes.

Artist Love: Izziyana Suhaimi

I came across the work of Izziyana Suhaimi a few weeks ago and am still totally smitten with her delicate pencil drawings and colorful embroidery. Her melding of art and craft together is breathtaking. The two mediums seem to fit together perfectly.

This makes me want to play with my own embroidery designs again.

It's My Birthday! And I have a gift for you!

Today is my 28th Birthday! I like to celebrate my special day during the entire month of August (and yes, I do impose this rule on my friends and family). But this year I've decided to give an extra special gift TO YOU!  All orders placed in my Etsy shop during the month of August will receive a complimentary handmade tie-dye braid. My Faerieworlds Costume

I showed a 'sneak peek' of my costume for Faerieworlds last Friday, but I have more photos to share! Before we left last week we met my friend Bobby in the park for a little faerie photoshoot.

Costume Details:

Dress: Used to be a long skirt I wore bellydancing in high school. With the help of this easy tutorial, I transformed it into a faerie dress.

Belt: I first saw this belt worn by Kaylah from The Dainty Squid and recently found this one at Wanderlust here in Portland.

Large Bead Necklace: Bought on Haight & Ashbury during my 2008 trip to San Francisco.

Love Beads: Thrifted at Red Fox Vintage.

Beaded Choker: Handmade by me when I was in high school.

Rose Hair Clips: Claire's.

Beaded Cuff Bracelet: I don't remember! Bought it in high school during my belly dancing days.

Rings: Silver spoon ring, Red Fox Vintage. Red rose ring, Flora. Mood Ring, Fuego.
