So recently I joined a fantastic group of fellow Etsy sellers called the Indie Free Spirits. The team describes themselves as free thinkers and lovers of all things off beat, alternative, nature friendly and handmade. Sounds like the perfect group for me, eh? Well anyway, I volunteered to assist the team leader with blog postings, communications, etc. My first assignment was to create a collage of team member's items with the theme "Out of the Box". It was so fun looking through everyone's shops and choosing my favorites (that fit the theme). Drum roll please...

One person CAN change the world!
Hi Everyone! Hope you all are having a great week (it's almost Friday!) I just wanted to do a quick post on a friend of mine who is planning a trip to Kenya to work as an intern with The Foundation for Sustainable Development. Coming this spring Jackie will be heading to the town of Kakamega where she will be working on a community development project. This is an amazing opportunity for her to gain international development experience while working to support an underserved community.
She needs your help! As an intern, she has to pay her own way through the entire program. Her ambition and passion to work on this project is amazing. She is a person that has big dreams for herself and wants to help the poorest of communities in our world. I can't imagine taking on something like that!
So take a moment to visit her blog, where she talks more about her project and dreams. Leave her a little comment of encouragement, ask her any questions you might have, and if you can- give a donation to help get her project off the ground. Thanks!

Artist of the Day: Kara Rane
I found this artist via Beautiful Decay blog and was instantly smitten. She created these drawings while living in the Caribbean using house paint and 10 pack Crayola markers (the only art supplies that were available locally). I love the mark-making she created with the primitive supplies. I think it definitely gives her work a unique feel- fun, cutesy, simple, bright.

Vintage Finds
I absolutely LOVE going antiquing with my mom ♥ We always seem to find some amazing junk we can't live without. Here are my weekend finds.
I found this awesomely ugly lamp. I love the hand painted glitter details and of course the shade. It goes perfect in my basement bedroom.
Campfire beads and badges
I now have a little mushroom family! I found some little salt and pepper shakers to add to my collection!
And this strange astrological boardgame.
