Off to Sasquatch Festival...

Sorry for the late post today. I'm getting ready to head up to Washington this weekend for the Sasquatch Music Festival. I've got my hippie clothes packed and my Camp Smartypants suitcase loaded with goods to sell from our campsite. I'm excited for a full weekend of camping, fun, friends, and music. Hopefully it doesn't rain!

I also spent a little time this afternoon thrifting. Here is what I found...

PS. I will get back to Portland late on Tuesday, so I hope to see you all next Wednesday with some photos/stories from my festival adventure! Have a great Memorial Day weekend! See you next week :)

Artist of the Day: Takashi Iwasaki

I am totally digging the work of Takashi Iwasaki. Born in Japan in 1982 and currently residing in Canada. I am (of course) in love with his use of color and the sweet playfulness of his work. I especially love the different mediums he uses. From painting and collage to embroidery, his abstract works are stunning, yet accessible.

Check out more of Takashi's work on his website.

My Own Ideas Blog

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend. I just wanted to let you know about a new blog I am contributing to. It's called My Own Ideas and is published by a local Portland company called, My Own Labels. They've just posted a fun tutorial I created on how to make some cute garland for decorating your home for a special occasion. Definitely check out their website, I will be contributing craft tutorials monthly!

Mood Monday: The Color Purple

Purple is royalty. It exudes class, power, passion, sensuality and luxury. It is a mysterious color associated with both nobility and spirituality. Purple is the color of mourning for widows in Thailand and was the favorite color of Cleopatra in Egypt. Historically, purple was so difficult and expensive to produce that it could only be worn by the wealthy. Creative people, especially artists and designers are said to love purple. Also, people tend to get less work done in purple rooms because the color encourages daydreaming. (reference) (reference).

Inspiration Wednesday

I'm finally starting to get excited about going to Sasquatch, a 3-day music festival at The Gorge Amphitheater. I bought my tickets back in January and now it's almost time to gather my hippie clothes and camping gear and head up to Seattle, where I will be meeting up with friends and then heading to the Gorge. In honor of the festival, I thought I'd share some summer festival inspiration. Enjoy!
