Retro Easter Crafts & Decorations

I've been too busy this week for a craft tutorial so instead I've got some crafty easter decoration ideas from McCall's Needlework & Craft Magazine (from 1958-1967). I love how crafts from that time look so weird and a little creepy, but still inspiring all the same.

Artist of the Day: Sabrina Ward Harrison

Sabrina Ward Harrison is one of my absolute favorite artists. I remember finding her first book, Spilling Open; The Art of Becoming Yourself at Barnes & Noble when I was 16. I was amazed at the art she created in her journals and also that she could publish such an amazing book at age 23! Her work inspired me to begin my own art journal and I have kept one ever since. Now she has many books published and is working on The True Living Project. She has also recently done a collaboration with Papaya to create a line of prints, cards and blank journals.

Vintage Finds

So I had about an hour to kill yesterday in between my physical therapy appointment and my hair appointment. I couldn't resist stopping at Rerun to see what goodies I could find. Here is what I went home with...


I'm really excited about the dress pattern. I want to make some of my own clothes for this summer. This may be my first project.

Crafty Thursday: Toilet Paper Roll Bunnies

This week's craft is rather elementary, but still fun to make! Meet the Toilet Paper Roll Bunnies:

The white bunny on the left is one I made in elementary school (yes, my mom saves EVERYTHING). The one on the right I made last night. See how well my crafting skills have developed? Hahaha

Anyhoo.. I didn't make a step-by-step tutorial for these, since they seem pretty self-explanatory.

Here are the supplies you need:
Toilet Paper Roll or Paper Towel Roll
Construction Paper
Pens/Markers
Googley Eyes
Glitter
Glue/Tape
Cotton Ball/Pom Pom

Very simple craft to make, just cover the cardboard tube with paper, add ears and a face, oh and don't forget the cottonball tail! We made these at Craft Club last night. Here were the night's results:

Someone suggested the idea of adding a top and bottom to the tube bunnies and filling them with candy. Such a cute easter gift idea, don't you think?

Artist of the Day: Nathalie Lete

I love the work of parisian artist Nathalie Lete. All of her pieces are so full of color and I love that she uses so many different mediums. I am definitely the type of person that wants to experiment with more and more mediums and techniques. Nathalie not only paints, but also does sculpture, sewing, ceramics, jewelry, rug-making, and she creates her own children's books.
